Weekly World Snooze

The Weekly World Snooze is a conspiracy theorist news magazine, that either takes normal events and tries to make it proof of something mythological or otherworldly, or entirely fabricates stories about bizarre things such as aliens, zombies, and werewolves. Slips and Windsor are subscribed to their magazines. It appeared in "That Darn Platypus".

Biography[]

In "That Darn Platypus", Slips and Windsor read the Weekly World Snooze magazine and they learned about the so-called alien attacks that were happening around the world. This led them to believe that they were soon to become victims, especially in the height of all the bizarre happenings, going on around Glendale. One of the things Windsor read in this magazine was that the alien disabled technology in order to make it easier for them to suck out people's brains. Windsor later recounts that he might have actually read this on a hipster's ironic T-shirt. Either way, he believes this was the cause of Glendale's recent power outage. Adam didn't believe in any of this, but he was later proven wrong, when Charles Darwin Middle School's new student, Rick Platypus turned out to be an alien.

Appearance[]

The cover of the magazine depicted Ed, Edd, and Eddy from the eponymous show, getting attacked by aliens, with the headline reading "Cul-De-Sac Stolen By Aliens!" Also included, were a few cover lines, with one reading "Zombie Toddler Walks", accompanied by a silhouette of a little boy in a "zombie position" as well as a puff that read "Cold cured by snake piercing".

Trivia[]

  • The title is a pun on "Weekly World News", a parodist news tabloid that told obviously made up stories about supernatural or paranormal events.
  • The central image depicted Ed, Edd, and Eddy from Ed, Edd, & Eddy, getting abducted by aliens. The masthead read that the Cul-De-Sac had been stolen. This is directly continuing the end of the previous show on Cartoon Network Invaded, which was Ed, Edd, & Eddy's, "The Eds Are Coming", where the end of the episode featured the Cul-De-Sac getting lifted off the Earth and taken into space by aliens.
  • Earlier in the Cartoon Network Invaded block, an episode of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, titled "Cheese A Go-Go" featured another parody on the same magazine called "World Weekly News".
  • The Zombie Toddler that was mentioned in a puff, is a possible parody on Bat Boy, a character, that's made multiple appearances in Weekly World Snooze magazines. Bat Boy is characterized as a combination between a bat and a boy. Similarly, Zombie Toddler is a mixture between a zombie and a toddler.
