"We Are the Same" is Chip and Dip's introductory song from their debut appearance in the opening scene of Sesame Street Episode 2209, which was later rerun as a song insert.

The two pester Oscar the Grouch at his trash can, meowing and popping up one at a time to make him think he's talking to one very fast-moving cat. Oscar does notice that while they look alike, their voices sound different. When Chip and Dip finally appear together, they sing a tango-flavored duet about how similar they are, so much so that their mother couldn't even tell them apart until they talked.
