Voltron is the US title for an anime series, actually re-edited and dubbed from two unrelated Japanese series, which aired in syndication beginning in 1984 for two seasons and a special. The series revolves around five pilots who command robot lions, which in turn combine to form a super robot called Voltron.
Both of the source anime series were produced by TOEI Animation, which was the overseas animation studio for the first three seasons of Muppet Babies (as well as Little Muppet Monsters). Three individual revival/reboot series, with different subtitles, followed in later years.
