The Magical World of Disney was the 1988-1990 incarnation of the long-running Disney anthology TV series (which debuted as Disneyland in 1954). Shifting focus from the original series hosted by Walt Disney to a package of made for TV specials and movies, the new series was hosted by Michael Eisner, occasionally interacting with cast or characters from that night's program (including the Muppets). The title remained in use on The Disney Channel through 1994.
Four Muppet specials were aired under the Magical World of Disney title, with The Muppets at Walt Disney World produced especially for airing during the program. Miss Piggy and Gonzo also appeared in Disneyland's 35th Anniversary Celebration, a special commemorating the Disneyland theme park's anniversary, which aired on February 4, 1990.

- In the TV movie Tourist Trap, the father (Daniel Stern) stumbles out of his RV from the shower, naked, into a downtown sidewalk sale. A police officer tries to unite him with his family, while he wears a yellow suit he bought. Reunited eventually, his wife defends herself by saying "I'm sorry, I wasn't looking for you. I mean, why would I think you'd be standing on the side of the road, dressed like Big Bird?"
