Lawrence's credit in Episode 0265
Mickey Lawrence (1923–2017) was a television hair stylist who performed such duties during the first nine seasons of Sesame Street.
Born Gisella Israel in Romania,[1] she immigrated to the United States with her family during her youth, whereupon her first name was anglicized to Gladys.[2] In 1942, she married Stanley Lawrence (né Lebowitz),[3] who also worked in television as a makeup artist; he served as president of the Motion Picture and Television Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists union (1960–1972) and was assigned to work on Richard Nixon after his infamous 1960 televised debate with John F. Kennedy.
Outside of Sesame Street, Mrs. Lawrence also worked as a hair stylist for the likes of The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, and George Raft, among other public and entertainment figures.
