Linda Lavin (1937-2024) was an actress best known for playing Alice Hyatt on the TV series Alice, from 1976 to 1985. She was the guest star on The Muppet Show episode 406. In the Cold Open, Lavin is turned into a Muppet sandwich, providing her own voice for the puppet.
She made a cameo appearance as Kermit's doctor in The Muppets Take Manhattan.
Lavin first made her mark on Broadway, with a co-starring role in the 1966 musical It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman, earing a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers, and winning for Best Actress in 1987 for Broadway Bound. Prior to Alice, she recurred on Barney Miller as Detective Janice Wentworth. Later credits include How to Be a Latin Lover (with Eugenio Derbez) and Being the Ricardos (with Nicole Kidman).
