Kermit & Cleopigtra is a 1981 Muppet Show storybook in which Kermit the Frog goes back in time to ancient Egypt, where he meets a very familiar-looking sovereign: Cleopigtra.

Synopsis[]

After Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker have built a brand new time-machine in the broom closet of The Muppet Theatre, Kermit the Frog and Beauregard accidentally stumble in and are transported back in time to Ancient Egypt. While there, the two discover Cleopigtra, the queen of the Nile who falls madly in love with Kermit and plans a wedding at that very moment. Meanwhile, back at the theater, the rest of the Muppets are trying to figure out how far Kermit and Bo traveled back in time, using Robin's history book for clues. When they realize their friends are in Egypt, Scooter attempts to help save the duo while the other Muppets continue with the show, except Miss Piggy, who refuses to go on stage without her frog there.

Back in Egypt, Kermit manages to escape from Cleopigtra and runs into a tomb, where Bo is looking for a snack bar. They find the time machine with Scooter inside looking for them, and quickly return to the Muppet Theatre, with Cleopigtra left behind. Upon their return, Miss Piggy has changed into her Egyptian costume and runs to greet Kermit. At first, Kermit still thinks that she's Cleopigtra, but comes to his senses and is glad to be home.
