Hero Muller in The Fourth Man (1983)
Hero Muller (1938-2021) was a Dutch actor who dubbed Cookie Monster, Herry Monster, and the Two-Headed Monster on Sesamstraat, the Dutch co-production of Sesame Street. He reprised Cookie on other projects, including Het Furchester Hotel (The Furchester Hotel), and dubbed James in the Creature Shop-effects film Pride.
Muller took over both Cookie and Herry in the late 1980s from Peter Piekos, who couldn't be located at the time. Cookie and Herry used to sound almost alike; in later years, Muller tried to make Herry's voice a bit more nasal. Unlike the original English-speaking Cookie Monster, the Dutch "Koekiemonster" uses correct grammar in his speech.
Muller's cartoon dubbing credits include Mr. Wilson on Dennis the Menace, King Gregor on Disney's The Gummi Bears, the Great Prince of the Forest in Bambi, Willie the Giant in Mickey and the Beanstalk, Krang on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Sarge in Cars. Live-action dubbing includes James Coburn in Snow Dogs, the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, David Warner in Mary Poppins Returns, Jim Carter in The Golden Compass, and Ian Abercrombie on Wizards of Waverly Place.
He was a busy director of radio plays beginning in the 1970s, including Krapp's Last Tape and the Marx Brothers radio series Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel. On-camera, Muller appeared in Paul Verhoeven's films Soldier of Orange (with Edward Fox) and The Fourth Man (with Erik J. Meijer).
