Flamingoes are tall, decoratively pink, wading birds who, in Alice in Wonderland, double as croquet mallets. They're generally reluctant to partake in such athletic pursuits, and must be carefully subdued by their players. The object of the game is to use the flamingo's beak to hit the ball.
In the 1999 adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Jim Henson's Creature Shop created animatronic flamingoes.
