Boarshead Revisted

"Boarshead Revisited" title card on Muppets Tonight

Evelyn Waugh (1903-1966) was a British novelist known for his biting satire. His books critiqued the behaviors of the British upper classes as well as other groups (Scoop strikes at journalism while The Loved One tackles the American funeral industry). His notable early novels include Vile Bodies and A Handful of Dust. The more serious Brideshead Revisited (1945) continued to probe the aristocracy but combined more complex relationships and an examination of British Catholicism.

Brideshead Revisited would later become one of Waugh's more enduring titles through adaptations, notably as a 1981 miniseries for British TV, re-aired on PBS in 1982 as part of Great Performances. Other versions include a 2008 film and multiple BBC Radio adaptations, while other Waugh adaptations include the 2003 film of Vile Bodies retitled Bright Young Things.
