SCENE 1 | Mr. Handford notes some of the wear-and-tear Hooper's Store is experiencing lately - the awning gets stuck as he cranks it and Big Bird is unable to get through the stuck door, accidentally removing the doorknob. Gina lets them inside, where Mr. Handford sees one of the stools is now coming loose (thanks to Alice trying to sit on it yesterday). He creates a list of things Maria and Luis need to fix, then muses about having a totally new store. Maria and Luis stop by, having framed Mr. Handford's first dollar from the store. They can't stay to hang it up; they're going downtown to buy some wood.
SCENE 1 cont'd | Mr. Handford decides to hang it himself, when Biff and Sully appear and offer their services. Biff has his trusty hammer with him, but borrows a quarter from Gina to buy a nail when the cash register fails to open.

He goes on to say that not only was it the first dollar he made at the store, but the first one he ever made as his own boss, reminiscing about his high school library job, then his career as a firefighter. Now that he's his own boss, he can pay himself and give himself orders (ordering himself to go buy some hamburger meat).

The hardhats study the building blueprints for the store and make sure the plans and store match - "You wouldn't want us to hang the dollar in the wrong store, would ya?" Biff justifies. The trio then struggles to fold the plans back up (Biff suggests calling the teamsters for help) as Mr. Handford wonders aloud if he should just do the job himself.

SCENE 5 | Mr. Handford gets impatient with Biff's stalling, though Biff is now ready to proceed. Sully disagrees that the spot they've set the nail is correct, though Biff and Mr. Handford think it's fine. Biff gives the nail a good whack, when the store starts to rumble and plaster starts falling. Everyone evacuates the store as it comes apart inside. The group watches in shock and horror during the wreckage. Support beams crash down, the shelves fall apart, the stools collapse like dominoes, and the mirror shatters. Even in the chaos, Biff takes note that they've indirectly fixed the cash register (due to rubble falling on it).
SCENE 5 cont'd | When the destruction comes to an end, concluding with the newsstand falling like a house of cards and the sign coming loose, Biff tries to ease the tension by assuring Mr. Handford there will be no charge for their services.

Mr. Handford starts getting into the idea of having a new store and everyone starts making suggestions. Biff announces the sponsors. |
