He then goes outside to clean the tables, asking Simon to watch over the place and let him know if anyone comes in; he exits through the back door. While he's alone, Simon muses out loud about leaving the store unattended, making the sound pattern of the door opening, the entry bell ringing, and the door closing. David comes back in, thinking someone else has entered, but finds only Simon there. This happens again, then finally Simon decides to leave.

SCENE 2 cont'd Luis enters Hooper's, but when David hears the door and bell, he assumes someone's playing a trick on him and goes around to the front door to find the culprit. He thinks Luis has been playing the trick on him, and chews him out. Simon comes back and makes the sounds again, surprising David and Luis.
