"Doin' the Grouch" is a Sesame Street dance Celina performs with the Grouchketeers at her dance studio. The song is a spoof of "Ballin' the Jack."
When Oscar confronts Celina that she doesn't really know such a grouchy dance, Celina reveals that the legendary dancer Gene Smelly had taught it to her. After a series of prompts that include finger wagging, complaining, and foot stomping, Oscar is very impressed at how well Celina was able to do the dance... and realizes he just gave her a compliment, something Grouches never do.
The song and dance was later performed on the Sesame Street home video Get Up and Dance, again led by Celina.
