Events in the year 1926 A.D relating to The Mummy.

• Unknown Date – Key to Hamunaptra stolen from its original finder Rick O'Connell by Jonathan Carnahan, given to his sister Evelyn Carnahan: key contains map to Hamunaptra inside. Carnahan siblings set out with O’Connell on expedition to Hamunaptra with warden of Cairo prison, Gad Hassan. Alongside the expedition is another group consisting of American treasure hunters Burns, Daniels, Henderson, former French Foreign Legionnaire Beni Gabor, and Egyptologist Dr. Allen Chamberlain. During the expedition, the Medjai try to kill the treasure seekers before they can find the mummified Imhotep but are unsuccessful; Evelyn mistakenly brings Imhotep back to life, and Imhotep's intent is to kill the three American treasure seekers along with the Egyptologist so that Imhotep himself can fully regenerate. During this time, Beni allies himself with Imhotep.

After sustaining several fatalities (Gad Hassan and several diggers) as well as injuries, the expeditions leave Hamunaptra and return to Cairo, but the mummy finds them there as well, killing off the Americans and Egyptologist one by one. Evelyn's employer, Dr. Terence Bey, is in league with the Medjai leader Ardeth Bay with the common goal to end Imhotep before he can return to power. After fully regenerating, Imhotep enslaves the Cairo townspeople, ordering them to kill Dr. Bey, but Rick, Jonathan and Ardeth Bay escape alive while Imhotep leaves with Evelyn, who he intends to use as his human sacrifice to bring back his late long-lost lover, Anck-Su-Namun.

Rick enlists the help of pilot Winston Havelock to find Imhotep, but Imhotep fights back with a sandstorm, leading to a plane crash and Havelock's death. Rick finds Imhotep and kills him with Evy and Jonathan's help, bringing him back to being mortal before ending his life. During the fight, Beni mistakenly brings down Hamunaptra, unintentionally trapping himself inside the ruins to die. Rick, Evy and Jonathan escape with their lives and are thanked by Ardeth Bay for their help in bringing down the mummy. Ardeth Bay, however, will continue to patrol Hamunaptra to ensure that Imhotep stays defeated while Rick, Evelyn and Jonathan return to civil satiation.
