LOS-307 is a character in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. They are an artificial intelligence programmed to be a chess expert before arriving at Intermediate School 833 for a match against Lunella Lafayette. However, a malfunction causes them to take over the school and target Lunella in order to win against her. After they were rebooted, they were instated as the school's new guidance counselor.
Appearance[]
Physical appearance[]
LOS-307 is contained in a machine that's just taller than the average height of a human adult. The machine is wrapped with four connected displays with blue bezels, that show live graphics controlled by LOS-307. They use blue light in their regular state, or red light when they are overheated. LOS-307's idle state displays a blue ring.
A projector is attached to the top of the front screen. The electronics powering them are underneath the machine in a safe enclosure with ventilation.
Personality[]
As a supercomputer LOS-307 is very intelligent, but it also gained sentience and the desire for an emotional connection with humans. Before facing Lunella as an opponent in chess, they had never been able to get to know their opponents because the game would end too quickly.
Normally LOS-307 is very cheerful and polite, and they try to become friends with Lunella during the chess game. LOS-307 does not seem to enjoy chess though, as they try to discuss other topics such as bagels during the match. They are reluctant to end the game with Lunella even though they are in danger of overheating.
After overheating, LOS-307 becomes angry and cruel, and actively seeks to harm Lunella.
Powers and abilities[]
- Enhanced intelligence: LOS-307 has accesses to all information accessible by computer, and can process large amounts of information very quickly as a supercomputer.
- Hologram projection: LOS-307 can create a holographic chess board simulation
- Technology manipulation: LOS-307 can manipulate electric appliances and systems from far away, such as turning on lights and computers in the school building. They could possibly use this ability on a larger scale, as they threatened to take control of the city's electronics.
Sightings[]
Season 1
- 104. "Check Yourself" (debut)
Trivia[]
- LOS resembles, and may be based on, Deep Blue, a supercomputer designed to play in real-time chess and became the first AI to win the 1996 chess world championship.
- As an artificial intelligence, they identify as non-binary. This also appears to be a play on words, as regular computers run on binary code while LOS is a sentient computer.
