Import JS[]

Hello, I removed the imports you added from the wiki-wide imports because they are irrelevant to most users, and only trusted users should have access to batch delete. I created this page which you can rename from "-js" to ".js" and that will then import it for you on this wiki. I included a fix for the default message for MessageBlock, but will need to double check next time you use it to make sure it worked properly. Out of curiosity, is there anything you're planning to batch delete? On an unrelated note, please add Category:Profile images when uploading...profile images. Yeah, it would be useful for that. There are some in there that look like they could/should be used, but not sure. Might not be worth checking them. I forget exactly how ABD works, but if you can enter a specific deletion reason when doing them in batches then I'm not aware of any better method. Black History Month 2024[]

Hello! We recently announced on Discord our new plan for Black History Month and the rest of observances and causes for this year. While I guess not everybody is using our server, I wanted to give the chance to any other people who participated alongside us during the last year. I know you have been publishing some blogs on your wiki for these observances, so I wanted to make sure you were aware about what we're currently doing and if you would also like to participate.

Structured Quotes[]

Hey! Just a heads up - if you haven't already, you'll see in Recent Changes soon that FANDOMbot has created Template:StructuredQuote.

What and why?
Structured Quotes brings new markup that allows you to classify each part of the quote, such as the speaker, receiver, the quote itself etc. This means you can add quotes to articles more easily, and generate lists of quotes via queries rather than adding each manually. You can also still customise the template while retaining this functionality. More info in the Structured Quotes blog.

How do you use this?
You would need to adjust your existing quote templates but help is available for this. Feel free to reach out to me, or use the #structured-quotes channel in Fandom Discord! This is all explained in the Help page.

Do you have to use this?
This isn't anything mandatory! I'd love it if you could try it out though, and let me know why you do or don't want to use it, and what it's lacking in case of the latter.

If you choose not to use it, please don't delete the template. Instead, please either leave it unused, or have Template:StructuredQuote redirect to an existing quote template. The editor has a button that will add the quote template and that may break.

There's an opportunity to feature a video on the top of articles on this wiki, similar to The Loop a while ago. You can feature videos including FanPulse this time, a Fandom-produced series which recaps pop culture news, updates and trivia. Other pop culture related videos like trailers may appear too. It's relatively short at around 3 to 5 minutes, and only appears for logged out users. View an example of this while logged out, the video playing after the ad. If there's another Fandom-produced video you'd like to add instead though, lemme know, and can look into making that happen!

Resolving the Reflections Continuity Issue![]

Hi! How've you been? I'm alive! 😄

So, I just had this thought about human Star Swirl in Equestria Girls:

If we think about it... who would the human Star Swirl even be? Like, maybe a scientist or an astronomer? Since magic wasn’t a thing in the human world until Sunset Shimmer brought it over, he wouldn’t have been a wizard originally. Remember that planetarium from one of the shorts? I think it had a statue of him or something.

SciTwi is all about science, so if she was fascinated by Star Swirl, then human Star Swirl would probably have been a scientist too, right? Though that statue makes him look like a wizard, which... might just be a symbolic touch? It wouldn’t make sense for him to actually be a wizard in the human world.

Here’s the fun part—

What if this idea actually helps tie the Reflections comic arc back to the show’s canon? In Reflections, "Star Swirl" shows up after Nightmare Moon’s banishment, but that doesn’t line up with canon since the Pillars vanished when Celestia and Luna were young.

So, what if -

What if the "Star Swirl" we see in Reflections isn’t pony!Star Swirl but the human one? Maybe he got into Equestria after a science experiment accidentally opened a portal (or maybe he stumbled through a natural portal like in Spring Breakdown)!

The princesses would be stunned to see “Star Swirl” after so long, and since he looks just like the pony Star Swirl they remember, he could keep up the act for a while. Eventually, though, he might have to come clean and admit he’s not really the original Star Swirl. I haven’t decided if this should happen while Luna’s still around or after her banishment... both could work, honestly.

And hey, it would explain why his personality in Reflections is so different from the grumpy, aloof Star Swirl we know from canon!

That theory is interesting, but I don’t think it’s particularly likely. Even if Celestia and Luna mistook EG Star Swirl for their version, I don’t see that he would recognize them. Moreover, if he isn’t a wizard as you theorize, then why was he so good at magic from what we saw in Reflections? It doesn’t really make any sense.

Reconciling Reflections with show Star Swirl is pretty difficult. However, I think that there are two things that can help explain it. First, we really don’t get to see that much of him in Shadow Play, episodes that take place after it, or comics featuring his updated appearance. It seems entirely possible that there are sides to him that we don’t really get to see in that material, but that do come out in Reflections. In particular, he may have felt more comfortable being a bit zany when it was just him and Celestia, as opposed to when he was with his fellow Pillars.

As for the timeline issue, I still think the best explanation is that Celestia is an unreliable narrator. We only have her word, from what I remember, that Star Swirl was present after Luna had been banished. It seems entirely probable that some combination of factors has caused her to misremember events. However, your suggestion of another Star Swirl does suggest a possible alternative.

We know that Star Swirl, in addition to dabbling in dimensional travel, also played around with time magic. Assuming he managed to make a spell that allowed him to travel to another time for more than a few minutes, it could resolve the continuity issue. Reflections Star Swirl is pony Star Swirl, but from an earlier point in his own timeline than the one who eventually leads the Pillars in trapping the Pony of Shadows in limbo. Or perhaps he was a “clone” of sorts, created by Star Swirl’s time travel efforts, and continued to hang around after the original Star Swirl had vanished but eventually disappeared.Kilmarnock228 (talk) 20:26, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
