Shuttle

Shuttles are a transportation method built into ZDR by the Mawkin Chozo. They function similarly to Elevators, but are meant to transport laterally rather than vertically. They can be used to move between areas in Metroid Dread.

Description[]

The Shuttles on ZDR travel along rail systems, similar to a monorail but hanging down from a rail rather than riding atop it. They normally travel through the air, but can also move underwater. They always appear with three cars attached to one another, although Samus can only enter one. To do so, she must stand on a pressure pad in front of the Shuttle and select yes when asked if she would like to ride it.

Shuttle cars possess no seats but ample foot room, indicating that they were meant for transporting large groups of workers or materials rather than mere public transportation. When the doors close, they leave gaps in the hull that are filled with translucent blue barriers akin to windows.

Artaria and Itorash are the only two areas not to feature any Shuttles.

Trivia[]

• Shuttles are similar to the Skytram on Elysia, which was also presumably built by the Chozo.
• A unique ambient theme plays in Shuttle stations.
