List of rooms in Metroid Prime Hunters

This is a list of rooms on the Oubliette in Metroid Prime Hunters. Larger rooms have their own pages and are linked here. All of these names are unofficial; such names will be highlighted in quotation marks.

Oubliette Gateway[]

Oubliette dock

The "Oubliette Gateway" is the Landing Site of the Oubliette. It is entered from a tunnel leading in from the outside of the Oubliette. Six tree branches stretch along the walls of the room, converging at the very center of the ceiling. Between each branch is an opaque green-colored window or screen projecting a green substance. Underneath the landing pad, there is a glowing green bowl-like floor with a brown edge. In between the tree-like constructions, grass plants grow from the floor. While not explored by Samus, Weavel's spaceship is shown in a cutscene to have landed in a separate alcove on the outside of the Oubliette, and there were likely other landing sites in and around the prison used by fellow Bounty Hunters Kanden, Spire, Sylux, Noxus and Trace. A short loading corridor connects the Gateway to the next room.

Elevator shaft (Door)

Elevator shaft[]

Elevator ceiling

The "elevator shaft" is a long vertical shaft leading upward. There is an Elevator platform in the center of the room. Samus can stand on it to automatically be transported up without activating a Switch. A large window is present at the top, through which the lore chamber can be seen. A Portal near the top will transport Samus into that room.

Lore chamber[]

Oubliette lore chamber

The "lore chamber" is a dome-like room, with a glowing green ceiling and windows featuring eight differently-colored symbols, each one seen previously in the Stronghold Void and likely representing different Octoliths. As the name implies, the lore chamber includes much of the Oubliette's Lore, specifically the first five entries of "Sealing Gorea". Samus can see the elevator shaft through the window, and that the chamber is situated high above a large chasm. Two yellow windows can be seen in the distance from both directions. The chamber is exited through a door, which leads into another loading corridor before the clearing.

Clearing[]

Oubliette main chamber
Door-to-drop-shaft

Door to the dropdown chamber.

The "clearing" is the largest and widest room of the Oubliette, and the penultimate room before Gorea. Embedded in the rock walls are glowing green lights, smaller than what Samus has previously encountered. The chamber opens up into a ramp leading down to the entrance to Gorea's lair. A Stronghold Door is present in the middle of the connecting chamber, which can be seen through windows.

Upon entering, there is a Morph Ball tunnel entrance immediately to the right. When entered, the tunnel leads through two tunnels constructed of branches that hover over the room. This in turn leads to a cliff suspended over the room, with a platform hovering in midair containing a Portal that leads to the cache. The Portal to Gorea's second lair can be seen in the distance.

Cache[]

Oubliette item room

The "cache" can be accessed via the secret Portal in the clearing. It holds the final Energy Tank in Hunters. Rock circles are embedded into the walls. A large window exists behind the Energy Tank, in Samus's immediate view, through which she can see Gorea's second lair. Behind the Portal are three hexagonal windows, through which the large portal that takes Samus to Gorea's second lair can be seen.

Oddly, if Samus shoots any of these windows with a projectile weapon (that is, not the Shock Coil or Imperialist), the projectile will ricochet at a high speed off the window.

Dropdown chamber[]

Dropdown chamber

The "dropdown chamber" is the penultimate room before both of Gorea's lairs. It is a small alcove with several rock pillars surrounding a large circular hole in the ground, emitting blue light. Jumping down will cause Samus to enter the first lair of Gorea, beginning the battle. There are windows beside the entrance, allowing Samus to see through into the room from the clearing and vice versa.

Seal Sphere chamber[]

Gorea lair 1

The "Seal Sphere chamber" is a room on the Oubliette. It appears in Metroid Prime Hunters. The room has a blue tint to it, with a small circular platform serving as the arena for Gorea's boss fight. A larger rim around the edge of the room exists, giving Samus space to recharge her energy or Missile/Universal Ammo, and target Gorea from a distance. Scattered around the rim of the room are Trocra, which Samus can destroy for necessary supplies. However, Gorea can also pick up the Trocra and use them as attacks. Separating the rim and arena floor is a yellow ring that is very damaging to Samus upon contact. Through the ring, the bottom of the central platform can be seen.

Scattered throughout the room are Colored Panels, color-coded to match the Affinity Weapons. Shooting these targets with the correct weapon and in the correct order will cause it to spin. If done correctly, it will fulfill the Alimbic Prophecy. These are crucial to go onto the second phase of the battle; if the prophecy is not fulfilled, Samus will die in the resulting ending. Successfully fulfilling the prophecy produces this Gunship transmission:

Translating telepathic intercept: "Spectral sequence initiated. Photon avalanche approaching cascade threshold."

—Gunship

When Samus enters the room, she finds the other Bounty Hunters firing at a pillar with a Seal Sphere atop it, eager to find out the true Ultimate Power (unaware that no such power existed). It explodes, and reveals Gorea, much to their horror. The monster unleashes several tentacles that impale the Hunters, though not fatally, and it assimilates their weapons before confronting Samus. The hunters flee off-screen.

After defeating Gorea, the targets, if shot, will fire beams of their respective color at both Gorea and Samus, transporting them into the second lair.

Gorea's lair[]

Main article: Gorea's lair
Gorea ingame

"Gorea's lair" is the final room on the Oubliette and in Metroid Prime Hunters. The lair appears to be entirely made out of a tree, with several platforms circling around the interior. Ultra Energy Capsules are placed in different spots, as well as Jump Pads to ascend the tree. A large blue arena at the top serves as a suitable point for Samus to finish Gorea off. The arena appears to be composed out of mostly dirt and blocks of rock. It is medium-sized, and looks to be based upon Alimbic aesthetics. The atmosphere appears to be covered with a green smog of sorts, which may represent gas or radiation.

Shortly after arriving in this room, Samus receives a transmission from her Gunship that says:

Gorea's defensive capability has increased dramatically. No weapons currently equipped in the Power Suit are capable of penetrating its armor. Intense gamma radiation has been detected on the lower floor.

—Gunship

This hints at something on the lowest floor. Upon descending to the base of the room, Samus finds an Artifact Shield holding the final weapon of the game: the exceptionally powerful Omega Cannon. The shield automatically lowers when Samus nears, allowing her to obtain the weapon. From there, she can navigate the room using the Jump Pads and platforms, firing at Gorea until it explodes.

How Samus escaped the Oubliette following Gorea's death is unknown, since she came to its lair via a portal.
