The Infester[1] is a species found in Artaria and Cataris on ZDR.
Description[]
Infesters are crawling insect-like enemies with multiple yellow eyes that can even climb on ceilings. They launch balls of acid at Samus that bounce along the ground before popping and damaging her, but these can be destroyed with beam shots. An Infester's acidic ball is capable of following Samus into another room.[2] If an Infester is approaching Samus from the front, it will turn upon spotting her and lob its acid. After acquiring the Varia Suit, Samus can instantly kill an Infester with a single Dash Melee.
Later, Infesters fall prey to the X Parasites, but their appearance and behavior do not change.
A similar creature with a much more potent explosion, Fulmite, is encountered in Ferenia.
