A Final Smash (最後の切りふだ Saigo no Kirifuda ) is a very powerful Special Move and "last resort" attack in the Super Smash Bros series beginning with Brawl. Every single playable character, including all Metroid series characters, has a Final Smash. A Final Smash can be performed when a character destroys a Smash Ball item, and the fighter usually becomes invincible for the duration of their attack. When a Final Smash is performed, the screen will darken and the attack will automatically commence. Many of these attacks are powerful enough to KO opponents or severely damage them.
Metroid Final Smashes[]
Samus's Final Smash in Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the Zero Laser. In Brawl, using the Final Smash automatically transforms Samus into Zero Suit Samus, who emerges from the Varia Suit after it is destroyed by the blast. The suit remains intact in the sequels since Samus and Zero Suit Samus have been separated as characters. Dark Samus, as an Echo Fighter of Samus in Ultimate, uses a variant of the Zero Laser called Phazon Laser.
Zero Suit Samus has had a different Final Smash in every game she has been a part of. In Brawl, her first appearance, her Final Smash is Power Suit Samus. This has her re-materialize her Varia Suit, turning her back into her Samus form while damaging nearby enemies. In Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, the first game to separate both forms of Samus into different characters, Zero Suit Samus's Final Smash utilizes her Gunship for attack. In Ultimate, Zero Suit Samus uses the Zero Laser as well, albeit positioned from atop her Gunship onto the stage and while wearing her Varia Suit.
Ridley's Final Smash in Ultimate is the Plasma Scream.
