Steward requests/Permissions
This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure. Minimum voting requirement are listed here.
Old sections are archived. The list of archives is below.
- Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
- If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
- For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel. In emergencies, type
!steward
in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type@steward
for non-urgent help.
Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page
1. Place the following code at the bottom of the appropriate section below:
==== Username@xxproject ==== (your remarks) ~~~~
2. Fill in the values:
- domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
- user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case this is for multiple users, leave this field blank and give a list of these users in your remarks.
- discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).
3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.
Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement
Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

I have been working at Hindi wikipedia for so long with much of contribution, which can be seen by admin tools, I need not state them. Alongwith working as Admin & thereafter as Bureaucrat for long. Offcourse for last one year my contributions sufferred due to some personal reasons. Still I promise to abide by the policies & contribute towards editing as well as the Admin tasks in future. Request for Admin Rights, as for good editing it is required to have many rights, as deletion, protection, removal of protection & much more. Here it is to be noted that I have been elected by nomination (pls refer this nomination).
Therefore my Admin rights may please be revived. Ashish Bhatnagartalk 03:59, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
* Granted for 6 months to expire on 2013-05-05. To prolong your (interface) adminship, please start another election a few days before your temporary access expires, and after a week post your request again to this page. Thanks. -- Avi (talk) 14:50, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Just want to enquire that why the dormant sysops पूर्णिमा वर्मन & Munita Prasad have been retained as sysops here (refer) who have been out of any activity so long?
- Unfortunately, we cannot track every admin on every project. If you can show that there are people on your project who, according to your own wiki rules, are no longer eligible for being sysops, please file a request for removal below. Also, please make sure you link to the discussion on your project where the removal was reviewed. There are some projects, for example, who do not remove privs for inactivity. -- Avi (talk) 14:50, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the attention & grant. I actually requested for permanent sysops rights only, but missed to state the same. Actually we at hi.wikipedia generally used to grant permanent adminships, thats why I took missed to state the permanent word. Thats why I had also stated the link to the consensus at hi.wiki. Now if you see, I may be granted permanent admin rights. --Ashish Bhatnagartalk 15:57, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Just now observed the current status of the recent consensus at hi.wiki for permanent admin rights. This can be seen at the consensus/request for Permanent admin rights page at hi.wiki. Now I do request for permanent admin rights. --Ashish Bhatnagartalk 16:00, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Done My apologies, I did not realize hi.wiki already has permanent sysops. -- Avi (talk) 18:17, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
- My sincere thanks for a prompt action. Here I would also like to remind that I was elected Bureaucrat on 16 June, 2010 & have been on the post with responsibility till then. This election was with consensus & can be seen on this Archive page. So I request you to please restore the Bureaucrat position rights for me, so that hi.wikipedia also has its one local Bureaucrat & everybody or anybody has no need to call up the stewards for the matters, that can be resolved there. --Ashish Bhatnagartalk 03:46, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Please grant me permanent administratorship since there is no administrator there. Thank you very much. -- Si Gam (talk) 15:42, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Permanently adminship is too long imho because you had the rights only for 3 months. I'd say 6 months or 1 year for now. Trijnsteltalk 17:27, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

- At this point, the community is a bit small, there are no other admins, and there were only four respondents. In six months, we'll see how the project has developed. Thanks. -- Avi (talk) 18:23, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

- Granted for 3 months to expire on 2013-02-08. While the project decides whether 8 votes is enough for adminship, I've gone ahead and flagged this editor since its RfA has been opened for a week, has ten or more than ten support votes and a 75% support or higher so this promotion oughtn't be controversial. Given the consensus to reconfirm all elected admins in this first bach, this is set as temporary here. While the reconfirmations can and should be done internally, Wikimedia Stewards wants to keep track of all requests and their status. If the editor is confirmed later please do tell us and we will archive and close the temporary request as renewed. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 16:57, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

A strong consensus has formed at http://wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:Administrators#Reconfirmation_for_initial_wave_of_admins that these admin rights should be reconfirmed in 3 months' time. However, since there is a large community active at Wikidata, I would expect the project to handle this reconfirmation internally. I don't believe the formal "temporary sysop" procedure needs to be followed in this case.
I will leave it to stewards to select which users have enough support to be promoted. This, that and the other (talk) 06:38, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
- Note to reviewing steward(s): per local consensus ([1]), those with insufficient participation (<8 supports) should probably be subject to further discussion.--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:42, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Oversight access
To request to have content oversighted, ask in #wikimedia-stewards, or, for requests regarding English Wikipedia email oversight-en-wpwikipediaorg. This is the place to request Oversight access. Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and the temporary status is only used by Stewards.
- Stewards
- Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced on the Identification noticeboard. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Oversight.
Removal of access
<translate>
- If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.
- To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.
- To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.
- See the instructions above for adding new requests. Please post new requests at the bottom of the section.</translate>

I would like to apply for importer rights for ro.wikibooks in order to import some articles about the English language grammar from ro.wp (ro:Categorie:Timpurile_limbii_engleze)--Strainu (talk) 13:37, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
- I believe that it would be more useful to submit a bugzilla to have rowiki be added as an import source for rowikibooks, and then we can assign transwiki import rights. Look at http://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/highlight.php?file=InitialiseSettings.php and search for wgImport. Then I would recommend a bugzilla requesting ...
