Zeltok ants were an otherwise unnamed aggressive, sentient species of ant hundreds of feet long that lived on the planet Zeltok. They became extinct when the planet self-destructed in 1465.

Zeltok ants hatched from enormous brown eggs. They had a purple carapace with green-colored compound eyes.

History[]

In the 15th century, this ant species drove the humanoid Zeltoks to extinction, leaving just one survivor who was defended by Zeltok gorillas.

In 1465, while exploring planet's surface, the Galileo encountered a field of ant eggs and narrowly evaded the grasp of a newborn. Ant troops subsequently attacked the gorilla's fortress, intent on killing everyone within. Galileo fired most of its missiles to push back the ants, but it was hopeless. The Zeltok survivor insisted that the shuttle leave without him and that he would go down fighting with the gorillas. (TOS comic: "Vibrations in Time")
