A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. The USS Quasar (NCC-88071) was a 25th century Federation starship, a tier 2-rated Quasar-class science vessel in Starfleet service in the 2400s decade. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Service history[]

Aurora and Quasar

The Quasar (right) and Aurora.

The ship was named for the USS Quasar, a 24th century Nova-class science vessel operating in the 2370s. (Decipher RPG module: Starships)

The Quasar class was a 25th century variant of the venerable Nova-class science vessels. By the year 2409, the modern USS Quasar was a tier-2 science vessel or science vessel retrofit. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

Flag officers of the Khitomer Alliance could deploy the Quasar alongside other spacecraft for assignments across the galaxy's quadrants as part of Operation: Delta Rising's four-quadrant strategy. (STO - New Dawn mission: "Admiralty System")

From 2410 onwards, the Quasar represented its class on the shipyards interfaces operated by New Romulus Shipyards, Klingon Defense Force Order of Builders and Starfleet Shipyards Operations at Alliance facilities across the Milky Way Galaxy. (STO - Refractions missions: "Explore the Flotilla", "The Hunt is On", "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")

In 2411, the Quasar carried stats equivalent to a tier 6 Equinox-class pilot scout vessel. (STO website: Reflections: The Agile Classics Ship Bundle!)

At one point in that year, the Quasar moved in the orbit of a planetary object alongside the USS Aurora, prototype of another Nova-related class. (STO website: Unparalleled: Remasters of the Aurora and Quasar!)
