The USS Michigan was a Federation starship, a Defiant-class destroyer in Starfleet service in the 24th century. In 2376 and 2377, the Michigan participated in repelling two Borg invasions. (TNG video games: Armada, Armada II) Named for the location Michigan on Earth's North American continent, this ship was succeeded in the name Michigan. A successor Norway-class USS Michigan was in service in 2378. (ST video game: Starfleet Command III)
History[]
In mid-2376, the Michigan participated in the defense against the Borg when the Collective invaded the Alpha Quadrant. (TNG video game: Armada)
On stardate 54771.6 (October 9, 2377), the Michigan was part of the joint Federation-Borg armada crossing through Rift Alpha into fluidic space to destroy the Rift Maker to end the Species 8472 incursions into the Alpha and Delta Quadrants. When the Rift Maker was destroyed, the Borg Queen and Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise-E ordered the armada to return through Rift Alpha. Along with the rest of the armada, the Michigan returned savely to the Hurik system, where the Federation-Borg alliance was called off by Picard, and the Borg were escorted back to the Borg transwarp portal. (TNG video game: Armada II mission: "Rifts")
- No final fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a Defiant-class vessel by the game software.
