The USS Bridger (NCC-591) was a 23rd century Federation starship in Starfleet service.
Service history and disposition[]
Bridger, with registry number NCC-591, was authorized for construction as a Mk VII Hermes-class class I scout by a Starfleet appropriation on stardate 0965 by the early to mid-2260s decade. (ST reference: Star Fleet Technical Manual)
Bridger was in service as an Akula-class scout in the 2280s and 2290s, equipped as a standard scout (SC). (ST video games: Starfleet Command II: Empires at War, Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates)
- It is not clear if Bridger was ever built to the original Federation scout specifications, as the SFTM only notes it was authorized. It is possible it was built as a Hermes-class vessel and then refit, or that the plans were cancelled and/or altered to make way for the ship commissioning of the Akula-class. No history or definitive fate is established for this vessel as its name was randomly selected for a scout by the SFC games' software.
In the year 2336, the Bridger was dispatched to the Qizan Qal'at system to investigate the loss of contact with the USS Crockett after she observed a Sli vessel attacking the Klingon warship IKS BIr Hud. When the Bridger arrived, all the crew found was wreckage. (TNG novel: Sins of Commission)
