The Sehin Morlatta-class (translated as Deathsting-class, and numerically known as the P8-class) was a series of class II Romulan corvette starships in Imperial Star Navy service during the late 23rd century.
Specifications[]
The Sehin Morlatta-class featured a fixed-wing design. With a crew of 4, these ships measured 28 meters long, 28 meters wide, and 8 meters tall, with a displacement of 8,848 metric tons. Propulsion was provided by one type RWA-2 warp engine and two type RIE-2 impulse engines. Offensive capabilities included one bank of RB-1 disruptor emitters and a plasma weapon launcher. The ships were defended by type RSB deflectors.
With only one warp engine, these ships were expected to be extremely difficult to detect when using their cloaking device. The class was named for the sehin morlatta, an insect with a fatal sting native to the planet Gorwah.
Service history and disposition[]
The class entered service on reference stardate 2/2301, with 24 vessels constructed. Sehin Morlatta-class vessels were field-tested on Kallendeva, with its maneuvers and attacks wrongly attributed by the Mantiev Colonial Association to loyalist vessels raiding rebel bases in a local civil war. Starfleet Command thought the corvettes would eventually be seen throughout the Empire. (Stardate Magazine vol. 3, Issue 3: "Romulan P-8 ("Deathsting") Class Corvette")
