Ross 271 was a red dwarf star in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. The Ross 271 system was a close neighbor of the Iota Pegasi system.

History[]

In mid-November 2163, the starship USS Endeavour defused a standoff between the ECS Voortrekker colonists and a Tellar Space Administration flotilla over the ownership of the Iota Pegasi system. The Voortrekker asteroid was ceded to the Humans and put on course for the Ross 271 system, with the Tellarites retaining control of Iota Pegasi. Accelerated to 27% of the speed of light, the journey of the Voortrekker asteroid to Ross 271 was projected to take up to twenty years, until 2184.
