Rajiv Gandhi (20 August 1944 - 21 May 1991) was a human male who lived in the 20th century. He was the eldest son of Indira Gandhi and the grandson of Jawaharlal Nehru, both of whom served as Prime Minister of India. He was himself appointed Prime Minister following his mother's assassination on 31 October 1984. He resigned from office after losing an election in 1989.
