"Say hi to Saturn for me."
—Rain Robinson, 1996[src]

Rain Robinson was a human female who lived on Earth during the late 20th century.

Biography[]

In 1996, Robinson was working at an observatory, participating in the SETI program. She discovered the Federation Starfleet starship USS Voyager, which had traveled back in time from the 24th century. After reporting the findings to Henry Starling, she sent a message to Voyager. Starling, concerned that this discovery represented a threat to him, sent his assistant to kill Robinson. She was rescued by Lieutenants Tom Paris and Tuvok, and subsequently joined forces with Voyager to stop Starling. (VOY episode: "Future's End")

That same year, she tracked some unusual activity to the base of Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln, and upon encountering the young woman Lincoln offered her a position as her assistant. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 2)

Robinson's father died during the September 11 attacks on New York City. After learning that Seven could have prevented the attacks but did not do so, she quit her position and refused to work further with the Aegis. She did, however, allow Aegis operatives to leave a quantity of emergency supplies and equipment in her office at the observatory where she worked so they would have a safe house to use in the event of an emergency. Such was the case in 2032, when Mestral and Kristen Heffron, who were on the run from Majestic 12, took refuge with Robinson. She passed away about a decade before humanity's first official contact with the Vulcans in 2063. (TNG novel: Hearts and Minds)

Alternate timeline[]

In an alternate timeline in which Khan Noonien Singh was victorious in the Eugenics Wars, Robinson, Shannon O'Donnel, Shaun Geoffrey Christopher, and about 100 of Earth's top scientific minds launched the SS Botany Bay in November 2010. Their intention was to escape the horrors of Khan's conquests and settle a habitable planet in the Eta Cassiopeiae star system. Unfortunately, the ship went off course and was eventually discovered in June 2376 by Princeps Julian Bashir of the Khanate of Earth starship Defiance. Robinson and the rest of the crew of the Botany Bay learned that Khan had forced Earth's entire population to undergo genetic engineering and had gone on to create a brutal and despotic interstellar empire known as the Khanate of Earth. (Myriad Universes novel: Seeds of Dissent)
