Rachel McLauren was a Human female in Starfleet in the 24th century.
She was a native of a high-gravity Earth colony planet, which explained her short stature (about one meter tall). She was also distinguished by her shaved head.
As of 2366, she held the rank of lieutenant, and was one of three assistant chief engineers aboard the USS Grissom, serving under Captain Norman Kenyon. Following the death of chief engineer Commander Todd Kogutt that year, McLauren was promoted to chief engineer. (NF short story: "Performance Appraisal")
