Mr. Paul was a male Human Starfleet crewperson in the 23rd century.

In the 2270s, Mr. Paul was serving aboard the USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk. When the Enterprise staged a raid against a Romulan space station in orbit of Levaeri V, Paul was one of the hundred-odd crewpeople chosen to participate. (TOS novel: My Enemy, My Ally)

By 2286, Mr. Paul was no longer an Enterprise crewmember, when he was assigned to lead the clean-up operations after the destruction of the Omicron Ceti IV colony. Mr. Paul was up against major problems in that assignment, as there were numerous personnel whose actions needed coordination, and many dead bodies to be collected from the scene. While receiving help from surviving colonists and starship personnel alike, Mr. Paul had problems with ships like the USS Enterprise-A, which was notoriously slow to file paperwork on their missing and killed crewmembers, and the Federation Security Legion, who were collecting evidence at the scene. (TOS comic: "Old Loyalties")

The two appearances are separated by a number of years and it is possible the two references are meant to refer to different people, however they have been combined into this article for convenience's sake. Mr. Paul's uniform in his comic appearance showed no visible rank or assignment patch insignia, but had a grey collar indicating he was in the operations division, a tactical officer, a science officer or a navigator, with all likelihood falling on the most former of these possibilities.
