NGC 104, a.k.a. 47 Tucanae, is a globular star cluster visible from Earth in the Tucana constellation. It is located outside of Federation space close to the border of the Romulan Empire and close to the Galactic barrier.

History and specifics[]

The cluster included blue, white and red stars as close as one-half light year apart. The stars at its core were class A blue-white stars that created a dazzlingly bright light display. A cluster within the cluster consisted of eight binary stars. The proximity of the stars made it difficult to compute a search pattern.

History[]

In 2270, Harry Mudd ran a subspace dilithium auction from this location. He hid his freighter Superstella inside the binary star cluster within NGC-104. When the starship USS Enterprise located Superstella, Mudd evaded the Enterprise through the cluster, then fled toward the Galactic barrier. (TOS - Mudd's Angels short story: "The Business, As Usual, During Altercations")
