See Morton for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Morton was a 23rd century Human man. He served in Starfleet as a security guard aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2260s under the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

History[]

In 2267, Morton joined James T. Kirk, Spock and Ferris aboard shuttlecraft NCC-1701/3 to explore the surface of Planet 656. Shortly after landing, Morton was swiped at by a very large dinosaur-like creature. Kirk rescued him, then both fell through a sandy sinkhole. Spock used a rope to climb down after them, but then the ground gave way and all three fell into a deep cavern. They were suddenly grabbed by tentacles, and at first sight of the Planet 656 natives, Morton in panic called them flesh-eating mushrooms. But the landing party was tossed into a gravity lift that carried them out of harm's way of an impending weapons blast. Relieved, Morton called the experience a nightmare that had turned into a good dream. (TOS comic: "Ground Zero")
