Kyoshi Nogura was a 23rd century Human man, the grandson of Fleet Admiral Heihachiro Nogura.

Biography[]

In the 2270s decade, Kyoshi enrolled in Starfleet Academy.

In the year 2274, for his psychology term project, Kyoshi organized a starship race to take place in his grandfather's honor. But as it was psychologically based, he fashioned tasks along the way that would challenge the morality of the Starfleet officers in the race. He also paid pirates in the Free Trader Lanes sector to harass the ships so as to delay the participants.

Unfortunately the pirate Sturdevant was more ambitious than Kyoshi expected. After accepting half of the payment, rather than work to earn the other half, he kidnapped the cadet and two associates for ransom, then proceeded to assault and destroy one of the racing vessels. Locked away, cadet Urdiss was able to short-circuit their force field restraint, and Kyoshi disabled the Free Trader starship's cloaking device before they were recaptured. Their efforts were enough for Captains James T. Kirk and Vera DiMarco to board the pirate ship, capture Sturdevant, and rescue them. (TOS comic: "The Nogura Regatta")
