History and specifics[]
In Kaelon society, individuals committed ritual suicide at the age of 60, in a ceremony called the Resolution attended by their friends and family. Kaelon scientist Doctor Timicin attempted to avoid this fate in 2367 at the urging of Lwaxana Troi, in order to continue his work to revitalize the Kaelon sun. However, he reversed his decision to avoid the social stigma that would have fallen on his family. (TNG episode: "Half a Life")
In the 2380s, Kaelons were found in Little Qo'noS on Tulgana IV. (LD episode: "Envoys")
In the year 2381, a Kaelon lieutenant served as security officer aboard the California-class starship USS Alhambra. (LD episode: "Veritas")
