Janaholt Jaas was a male Starfleet medtech and was the senior staffer on Julian Bashir's medical team on Deep Space 9 in the 24th century.

In 2373, when DS9 was being attacked by Klingons, Jaas was in the infirmary with Bashir and other medtechs, still wearing greens from an operation earlier in the day. He panicked when Klingons rushed into the infirmary, and tried to dodge a disruptor blast but caught the blast anyway, shielding Bashir. (DS9 novel: Vengeance)

As other individuals who were shot at the time were still alive, it is likely that Jaas was not killed either.
