Dashiell Hammett (1894-1961) was a human author of mystery and detective novels in the 20th century. (TOS novel: Planet of Judgment) Hammett is best known for creating the character of private investigator Sam Spade.

Legacy[]

Zak Kebron was a fan of Hammett's work, having read many of his stories while attending Starfleet Academy. (NF novel: Stone and Anvil)

Miles O'Brien provided Odo with a PADD containing fiction by Hammett in 2386. (DS9 eBook: I, The Constable)
