In 2328, nine ships of the Cardassian Third Order engaged in battle with seven Imperial Klingon Defense Force in the Betreka Nebula, marking the beginning of the Betreka Nebula Incident. (ST - The Lost Era novel: The Art of the Impossible)

By the time the Cardassians abandoned the Nor-class space station Empok Nor in the Trivas star system in the year 2372, a panel was decorated with the Galor banner of the Third Order. Military personnel left behind on the station belonged to the defunct Third Battalion of the Cardassian First Order, however. (DS9 episode: "Empok Nor")

Later that year, detachments of the First, Third and Ninth Orders destroyed a Dominion cloning facility on Rondac III under Legate Damar's Cardassian Liberation Front. This marked the beginning of the Cardassian rebellion against their Dominion overlords. Legate Damar broadcast the information about the orders' action publically. (DS9 episode: "The Changing Face of Evil")

In 2378, the post-war Cardassian Reclamation put Captain Benjamin Sisko of the USS Theseus on trial on Cardassia Prime. During the process, one of the Vorta legislator's thirty witnesses claimed that the Third Order at least 30 arrest warrants filed for Sisko for war crimes. (ST - IDW - The Red Path comic: "Part 2")

After the trial, Barada Damar, First Speaker of the Cardassian Reclamation, replayed Legate Damar's war speech to visitors from the Theseus, including his uncle's reference to the Third Order. (ST - IDW - The Red Path comic: "Part 4")
