The Battle of Andromeda was the Federation's first major action against the Klingons following the declaration of the Four Years War.
Around reference stardate 1/9410, starships of the Klingon Empire received word that the Federation had declared war. Small numbers of Klingon ships had begun massing at the Federation border in expectation of war, and many participated in attacks on Federation forces around the area visible from Earth in the Andromeda constellation, centered around the Andromeda system.
