Alderaan was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, in the vicinity of the Ficus sector.

History and specifics[]

Alderaan was the site of a diplomatic missions carried out by the Earth spaceship HMS New Zealand in the year 2135 and the Federation starship USS Atlantis in 2365. (TNG episodes: "Up the Long Ladder", "The Measure of a Man")

The Bajoran criminal Ibudan chartered a space flight out of Alderaan in 2369. (DS9 episode: "A Man Alone")

The planet's name was apparently an homage to Princess Leia Organa's home of Alderaan in the Star Wars movies. The TNG and DS9 art department made several references to Alderaan in computer readouts on viewscreens, but with later HD remasters they tended to remove the name as it was never meant to be ligible to viewers. In at least two cases the text was changed to read "Aldebaran".
