Doctor Aaron Brown was a human scientist in the 23rd century and was a long-time assistant of Dr. Roger Korby.

Biography[]

Aaron Brown worked with Dr. Korby for many years and accompanied him on many archaeological expeditions. In 2259, Brown accompanied Korby on an expedition to Vestalan along with Christine Chapel. Brown became good friends with Christine, and she often referred to him as "Brownie", and he was happy when Korby and Chapel were engaged. (TOS short story: "Snake Pit!"; TOS episode: "What Are Little Girls Made Of?")

In 2261, Brown accompanied Korby on an expedition to Exo III. During the mission their ship crashed, and Brown was killed instantly. Korby survived long enough to encounter the android Ruk and manage to create an android duplicate of himself. The android Korby later created a duplicate of Brown which continued to serve him. However, the android Brown was less emotional than the real Brown, and when the USS Enterprise arrived in 2266, Christine soon discovered that the android wasn't Brown and led to the downfall of Korby's plan to recreate the Federation with androids. (TOS episode: "What Are Little Girls Made Of?")

The android Brown was deactivated by James T. Kirk after he shot him with a phaser. Brown was later recovered by Dr. Emil Vaslovik and kept in his collection on Valhalla into the 24th century. (TNG novel: Immortal Coil)

In 2268, another duplicate, who had been trapped in a cavern for over a year, sent out a distress call which brought the USS Hood to Exo III. Using an android duplicate of Captain Kirk, Brown was able to take control of the USS Hood by replacing Captain Joaquin Martinez and the senior staff with androids, and set about trying to make Korby's dream a reality. Thankfully, Brown and his androids were stopped by the Enterprise and the USS Potemkin. (TOS novel: Double, Double)

Appendices[]

Background[]

For the purposes of this wiki, this article describes both Aaron Brown and his android duplicate. The ending of the episode called into question the efficacy of Korby's process transferring mentality, which makes it unclear if either Brown android was actually the conscious mind of Brown, or a separate being programmed to emulate Brown. It is also possible that Korby simply created one or both Brown androids as copies and did not transfer Brown's consciousness, in which case one or both of the androids would be entirely separate entities.
