The USS Ibn Majid (NCC-75710) was a Federation Curiosity-class heavy cruiser operated by Starfleet during the late 24th century.
History[]
Vandermeer and Rios aboard the Ibn Majid
In 2390, under the command of Captain Alonzo Vandermeer, the Ibn Majid encountered a small ship of unknown design deep in the Vayt sector. Vandermeer informed Starfleet Command of a first contact situation and invited Ambassador Beautiful Flower and his protégé Jana aboard. A few hours later, Vandermeer received a black flag directive from Commodore Oh at Starfleet Security ordering him to kill them, or the Ibn Majid would be destroyed with all hands. Vandermeer carried out the order, and then committed suicide after being confronted by his executive officer, Cristóbal Rios. (PIC: "Broken Pieces")
Starfleet subsequently classified the incident and erased the existence of the Ibn Majid from official records. As such, in 2399, Rios did not expect retired admiral Jean-Luc Picard to have heard of it. (PIC: "The End is the Beginning", "Broken Pieces")

This starship was presumably named for the 15th century Arab explorer Ahmad ibn Mājid.

The silhouette of the ship seen on Rios' storage case was provided by John Eaves, and shows a very similar design to his previously designed USS Emmett Till, shown on the 2019 documentary What We Left Behind.
In 2023, Star Trek: Picard Production Designer Dave Blass posted a fan-made Master systems display graphic of the Ibn Majid created by Tim Davies. This MSD identified the Ibn Majid was an Apollo-class starship. With its type given as an M class starship, the Ibn Majid had a length of 684.9 meters, width of 243.8 meters, and height of 87.1 meters. The ship had a mass of 2,750,000 metric tonnes, 19 decks, and a crew of 655. [1]
