It should be noted that the "excess subroutines" that were deleted where the alien subroutines, not the ECH subroutines. Which means the Doctor could have still used them after this date.
Future?[]
- Following Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant the E.C.H.'s future remains unknown. The technologies potential is obvious for Starfleet, beyond even command functions; a fantastic concept it remains to be seen if it is welcomed and trusted in reality.

I've moved the comment here until we can figure out what its trying to say. I also think it could be shorter if it is restored, perhaps leaving out the last half.

Removed text[]
I removed this text as it isn't relevant to the article and a bit confusing.
- Other than the ability to work in toxic atmospheres or other environmental hazards, this is perhaps one of the weaknesses of such a system; repairing a ship meant to carry many crewmembers is a lot of work for one pair of hands, even if they don't require rest of any kind.
