Star Trek: The Motion Picture is the digital release of Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The theatrical and director's cuts of the film were released, the latter initially only in S[tandard] D[efifinition], simply because a H[igh] D[efinition] version had not been made yet.

On 5 April 2022, the just completed remastered HD version of The Director's Edition debuted as an exclusive on the Star Trek franchise's own streaming service, Paramount+, [1] after which it went up for sale or rent through various channels on 6 September 2022. North American buyers of the (physical) Blu-ray, and 4K UHD home video formats were enabled to acquire a digital copy of their purchase through by the franchise selected channels.

For those purchasers no longer interested in personal physical availability of their home media formats, it were among others iTunes, [2] Microsoft [3] and Amazon.com – through its Prime Video channel [4] – which were selected as licensed intermediaries for digital purchase and/or rental (download) options for the film.
