Skiing was a winter activity in which one maneuvered on a snowy surface while standing on skis, propelling oneself forward with ski poles. Participants were called skiers.
In 2024, Christopher Brynner went skiing on Mount Cook in New Zealand. Two guests at a party he held later that year told him they had had to cancel a skiing trip to the Alps, due to political trouble in Europe. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I")
The 22nd century Earth transport Arctic One was equipped with skis for better landing in the Arctic Circle. (ENT: "Regeneration")
In 2364, Wesley Crusher and eleven other students were given skiing lessons by a ski instructor in a holodeck simulation of the Denubian Alps. In their time spent in the holodeck, the field trip was exposed to the Quazulu VIII virus. (TNG: "Angel One")
In 2368, Cadets Wesley Crusher and Joshua Albert took a skiing trip together in Calgary, Canada. (TNG: "The First Duty")
In 2373, Chakotay and several crew members on the USS Voyager went skiing on a holographic re-creation of the Ktarian glaciers to relax after their encounter with the macroviruses. Kathryn Janeway, despite a love of skiing, declined an invitation to this, as she felt she'd had enough of a workout recently in fighting the macroviruses. (VOY: "Macrocosm")
In 2374, Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres went on a ski date to Saint Moritz. (VOY: "Waking Moments")
In 2382, on a mission aboard the Cosmic Duchess, Lieutenant jg Brad Boimler went skiing atop a mountain in order to gain intel from a Denobulan woman regarding the AWOL Starfleet admiral Milius. (LD: "The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel")
Additionally, the script for the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode "Evolution" featured a subplot, ultimately cut, about three friends of Wesley going skiing in Switzerland on the holodeck.
