A ship's log or starship log was a type of log used to record the events aboard a starship. It was sometimes used instead of the acting captain's log or by senior personnel. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos")
In 2268, Arne Darvin noted that according to the Spacematic's ship's log, Cyrano Jones was within the Klingon Empire's sphere of influence less than four months prior to his visit to Deep Space Station K-7, making him a viable suspected Klingon spy, something Nilz Baris agreed was possible. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles")
In 2371, Quark and Rom checked the ship's log of Grand Nagus Zek's shuttle. It showed the Ferengi shuttle entered the Bajoran wormhole, stayed there for a few minutes, then reversed course and traveled to Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Prophet Motive")
