Jack C. [Carroll] Haldeman II (18 December 1941 – 1 January 2002; age 60) was the author of one Star Trek novel, Perry's Planet, released in early 1980. He was the elder brother of Joe Haldeman, another Star Trek author. He was often known by the nickname "Jay".
Born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Haldeman was best known as a short story author, publishing over one hundred during his career, beginning in 1971. He died of cancer in 2002 in his home town, Gainesville, Florida. He was a biologist by profession.
