- A Vulcan ship crosses into Klingon space near H'atoria, and is immediately attacked and destroyed by the Klingons. In the aftermath, Vulcans establish a policy of firing first when encountering Klingons, earning their respect and eventually leading to the establishment of formal relations. While it is not explicitly stated, this is strongly implied to be the first contact between Vulcans and Klingons.
Background information[]
- In the original version of TNG: "The Neutral Zone", Donald Raymond dies on Earth this year. In the remastered version he dies in 2038.
- According to the final draft (as well as the second draft) of "Encounter at Farpoint", the New United Nations ruling that citizens may not be held responsible for crimes committed by their race or forebears was made in this year. In the episode, it was changed to 2036.
