Etymology[]
Nigayomogi is the Japanese name of artemisia absinthium (wormwood) which means "bitter (niga) Artermisia (yomogi)". While the plant itself is mildly toxic, recorded human death from consuming this plant is very rare. Its poisonous attribute in game likely references its Ukrainian name, "chernobyl" (literally black herb), which coincides with the site of the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster. Many see this as a fulfillment of a biblical prophecy from the Book of Revelation which states that "a star (wormwood) falling down and turning the waters bitter".
