Cain is a Persona in the series.
History[]
Cain was the older brother of Abel and the is one of the many sons of Adam and Eve. He at first cared for his brother, but over time this love grew into a rivalry due to the fact that Abel had much more time with God than he. This rivalry was soon fueled by jealousy that quickly turned to rage.
His rage would then turn to sin as Cain murdered his brother in a mix of anger and jealousy. According to teachings this was the first true murder mankind committed and as such Cain has become an immortal symbol of villainy in religious works and is referred to often as "The Father of Murder." Furthermore, Cain's murder of of Abel sparked a vicious cycle known as the Cycle of Fratricide which involves a brother killing a brother in a fit of rage, hatred and jealousy for centuries to come.
Cain's actions lead humanity further into darkness and in some texts Cain is seen even depicted as a son of the devil due to his heinous acts. Cain is portrayed as corrupt, cruel, violent and in some ways, reflects the darker aspects of humanity. Cain is also described as a city-builder, and the forefather of tent-dwelling pastoralists, all lyre and pipe players, and the bronze and iron smiths, respectively, whose trades were believed to be those that related to the first murder, or draws out further mankind's worst aspects.
The story is often told as follows. Cain presented some of the land's produce as an offering to God, and Abel also presented his own offering of the firstborn of his flock and their fat portions. God had regard for Abel and his offering, but he did not have regard for Cain and his offering. Cain was furious, and he was downcast. Then God said to Cain, "Why are you furious? And why are you downcast? If you do right, won't you be accepted? But if you do not do right, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must master it." Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.
Seeing his brother dead, he was suddenly guilt-stricken when he thought of God's and his father's wrath. Having committed the first murder, while trying to figure out a way to deal with his brother's corpse, he saw a raven digging the soil to bury another raven which it had fought before, which inspired him to bury his brother's body in the ground. However, the sudden disappearance of Abel and the stench of the rotting corpse caught the notice of Adam and God, and Cain was condemned for eternity to "the land of Nod," or to be cursed to forever wander as the fruits of the earth itself refused to bear upon the first murder, and in some stories, to bear the Mark of Cain, a terrible affliction that God wrought upon Cain until his last breath, and to afflict any that hurt him "seven fold" to avoid killing him to end his torment early.
After having been forced to the "Land of Nod" and having a family, Cain founded the first city of mankind, and named it after his firstborn son, Enoch. His later sons would include Tubal-Cain, the first blacksmith and inventor of martial arts; Jubal-Cain, the inventor of music; and Jabal-Cain, the "progressor," who carried on Abel's trade, and invented architecture and clothing.
His death is believed to have been caused by Tubal-Cain, whose lust for carnage lead him to throw a rock at the elderly Cain, who then grew a horn because of the Mark of Cain, believing him to be an animal.
